Overview
Liberators: Fighting on Two Fronts in World War II is the companion volume to the PBS television documentary about the role of Black soldiers in World War II. Written by Lou Potter, William Miles, and Nina Rosenblum, it was published by Harcourt Brace in 1992.
The book is 303 pages long and includes numerous photographs, with approximately half presented in duotone. It sparked controversy due to its claims that Black troops, particularly members of the 761st Tank Battalion, were the first to liberate Buchenwald concentration camp. Later editions included an errata sheet acknowledging the debate surrounding this claim.
